Versatility
The Handyscan 3D laser scanners are versatile because they are compact, one-hand self-positioning devices
Flexibility
Traditional laser scanners mounted on arms or bulky CMMs and white light scanner technologies are referenced in relation to the structure supporting them. Therefore, the part being scanned has to stay stationary as well.
On the other hand, the Handyscan 3D laser scanners do not need to be linked to any machines, since they are self-positioned. Thanks to this feature, the acquisition cost of such unique technology is reduced and the scanning process is greatly simplified since the scanned part doesn’t have to stay perfectly stationary.
Versatility in confined places
Scanning in tight and confined spaces can be very tricky and difficult for users of traditional scanning systems. Imagine how hard it can be to get a tripod inside a car to scan the passengers compartment! On the other hand, the Handyscan 3D laser scanners allow the scanning of such compartment, even the tiniest of all, as quick as a flash!
No part size limit for best results
The fact that they are not linked to any external tracking system gives another great benefit to the handheld Handyscan 3D scanners : there is virtually no limit to the size of parts that can be scanned, whether it is a very small part made of plastic or an entire airplane!
Scanning of parts of various colors, textures or fishishes
All engineers strive for good data and efficient scans, no matter the colour, the texture or the finish of the parts to be scanned. Because dark colors absorb light, it is often difficult for a laser scanning system to see the laser trace or beam used to capture the shape. However, the Handyscan 3D scanners allow the user to set the light intensity and exposure time so to solve any color, texture or finish issue!
