Creaform launches major new Pipecheck release for pipeline integrity and degradation assessment

May 28, 2014

Lévis, QC, Canada, May 28, 2014 - Creaform, a worldwide leader in portable 3D measurement solutions and 3D engineering services, today announced the release of Pipecheck 2.2, its new and upgraded pipeline integrity assessment software. When used with the new HandySCAN 3D scanner, Pipecheck 2.2 enables NDT service companies and pipeline operators to quickly and accurately perform evaluations of pipeline degradation and remaining service life.

“New and advanced software capabilities, when combined with the impressive performance levels of our next-generation HandySCAN 3D scanner, makes Pipecheck the fastest and simplest pipeline integrity assessment solution on the market. It represents a significant leap compared to the assessment methods traditionally used in the oil and gas industry,” said Jérôme-Alexandre Lavoie, Product Manager at Creaform.

Creaform also introduced Pipecheck Analyze, a new software module designed to address a parallel workflow for end-users. The advantages these two solutions provide users—efficiency and accuracy—can be experienced in numerous ways:

  • Pipecheck: A single software solution for pipeline corrosion and mechanical damage assessment.
  • Pipecheck Analyze: Use Pipecheck’s powerful, yet affordable, assessment tool for on-site analysis or from a remote location. For example, field technicians can now send acquisition data, acquired in a ditch, to be analysed in more detail by a pipeline integrity engineer.
  • Virtual pit gauge: A completely new algorithm ensures that users can benefit from all the scanned parent material. The optimized virtual pit gauge features the stability of a two-sided pit-gauge and flexibility of a one-sided pit gauge.
  • Surface merging: Pipecheck also gives users a brand-new method to optimize workflows when working on the same pipe joint with multiple units. Scans that share an overlap of targets can now be realigned together using their common targets—dramatically increasing productivity in the field.
