Kite Surfing

Kite wing:

  • 2 scanners
  • Scanning time: 6 hours (including set-up time)
  • 1,8 million triangles

Challenges encountered:

The kite is a soft object made of a material especially designed to move even with the lightest wind...so it was hard to get it to stay still.

Given the impressive wingspan of the kite, the set-up required a lot of space, and specific fasteners.

Benefits of the Handyscan 3D scanners

Simultaneous use of two scanners, with the data being acquired in the same positioning system.

Kiter and surf:

  • 1 scanner
  • Scanning time: 4 hours (including set-up time)
  • 2,4 millions of triangles

Challenges

Scanning of a human, deformable body, very uncomfortable position to hold for long periods of time, surfaces to be scanned presenting different colors and textures.
