Creaform has sold its 100th Handyscan 3D unit to Visteon, a supplier for car interior plastic trim parts

Levis, Canada October 5th 2006 - The laser scanner Handyscan 3D was launched last fall. This self positioned scanner has revolutionized the market. The Handyscan 3D does not required an arm CMM for its operation. These features are critical for many automotive manufacturers, aerospace designers, mechanical engineers and plastic mould manufacturers.

The 100th unit of the Handyscan 3D was sold last month to Visteon, a car interior plastic trim part supplier. The unit will be used in the testing laboratory of the Visteon Technical Center in France. The need of the engineering team in the lab at Visteon was to analyse and evaluate the plastic deformation resulting from many thermal and climatic tests, including sun load tests. "The Handyscan 3D meets all of our needs, we need to scan the car interior before and after sun load test to measure the exact geometrical deformation" says Mr. Bruno Cappuyns, Team leader Essais & MA©trologie at Visteon. "With the Handyscan 3D, we will improve our ability to analyse the origin of the geometrical evolution." The engineering team will save about one hour for each solar deformation test.
