Lévis, June 14, 2012 – Creaform, leader in 3D portable measurement technologies and 3D engineering services, is proud to be associated with the 8th edition of the Transat Québec-Saint-Malo as official partner of the Défi Saint-Malo Agglo trimaran. The company will be represented on board by Charles Mony, founding president and CTO, whom will be racing the transat for the second time. Charles has sailed more than 30,000 nautical miles over the last years.

“Just like business, offshore racing requires a mix of innovation, passion and determination, and these values are at the very core of Creaform’s success, explained Mony. By joining this international adventure as the official partner of the Défi Saint-Malo Agglo, Creaform reiterates its determination to conquer the world markets and shows how strongly we feel about the importance of chasing one’s dreams and live one’s passions.”

The Défi Saint-Malo Agglo 60-foot trimaran sailboat has been crafted for offshore racing and is classified under the Formula 1 category. It will take the start of the transat Québec-Saint-Malo with Gilles Lamiré onboard, a professional skipper with a wide maritime experience. The crews should cover the 5287 km (2950 nautical miles) in just over a week.

This mobilizing project also has a humanitarian dimension to it: a commitment has been made with ONE DROP to raise funds towards the public and partners to support the organization’s numerous initiatives to fight poverty by ensuring access to water to the most disadvantaged populations in the world. ONE DROP undertakes innovative and integrated water projects as well as educational, artistic and engaging mobilization and awareness activities on an international level, in which water plays a central role as a creative force to generate positive, sustainable change worldwide.

The Défi Saint-Malo Agglo sail boat has the chance to count other Québec flagships among its partners: Premiertech, Leonard and Desjardins.
