The hypercar manufacturer leverages Creaform’s metrology expertise to boost productivity and increase product quality
Creaform, the worldwide leader in portable 3D measurement solutions and engineering services, today announced that Koenigsegg, the Swedish manufacturer of high-end, high performance sports cars, selected Creaform’s unmatched metrology technologies to assist it in bringing its product development and quality to unprecedented levels.
Thanks to Creaform’s MetraSCAN 3D scanners, HandySCAN 3D scanners, and HandyPROBE portable coordinate measuring machine, Koenigsegg was able to scan on its automotive parts’ dark and highly reflective surfaces—and virtually eliminate noise during their product development and quality control analyses. With over 300 hand-formed carbon parts in every Koenigsegg car, Creaform’s inspection solutions provided the accuracy and reliability required by the engineering team, even under rugged shop-floor conditions, to inspect production parts and adjust jigs.
“Koenigsegg’s outstanding vision in the automotive industry has upped the game for all car manufacturers. Koenigsegg is synonymous with quality and innovation—and the entire Creaform team is proud to have contributed to this amazing project,” said David Gagné, Creaform’s Division Vice-President, Engineering and Metrology Services.
“Thanks to MLT Maskin & Laser Teknik AB, we found a quality control technology provider that seamlessly integrated with our infrastructure, work methods and strict requirements,” explained Christian von Koenigsegg from Koenigsegg. “Companies in our market segment must always surpass customer expectations in every area. Our work with Creaform has proven to be an important link in our quality chain, keeping us at the top of our game and ahead of our competitors.”
