VXelements Import Surfaces makes it possible to combine sessions based on a same referential to get only one global file containing all raw data. The final surface obtained is of optimum quality, mainly on the overlap zones. No other software can generate comparable results, and the reason for this is quite simple: VXelements uses raw data from each session to generate a higher quality surface by using powerful surface construction algorithms. The Import Surfaces functionality can be used with the Handyscan 3D and MetraSCAN 3D scanners. Depending on the part and application, some projects require multiple scans to acquire the part in whole. Just think about scanning a car or complex small parts.
To combine sessions, you must first open a session and click on File – Import Surfaces. After that, simply add the sessions you want and import them. To shorten calculation times, it is best to change the surface and facets parameters on the first session (e.g. Resolution, Decimation, Optimisation).These parameters will be directly applied to all the sessions added.
Maximum weight of the sessions to be combined through this functionality is determined by the computer’s capacity, and mainly by the available RAM. This functionality is rarely or not used by users, and yet, VXelements’ Import Surfaces is an indispensable functionality when you need increased surface quality.
